Best of the Bunch Award: October

November is HERE! And it snuck up on me so quickly that I didn’t even have a chance to post my October Best of the Bunch pick while it was still October! So, a couple days late, here it is, my favorite read of last month. If you’re interested in participating in Best of the Bunch and sharing your favorite book each month, visit Lyrical Reviews and find out more.

My Best of the Bunch pick for October…

SHATTER ME
By Tahereh Mafi

Description:

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed it’s mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice. Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting as The Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel – with a paranormal twist – that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.

Why I chose it:

I’d been hearing so many wonderful things about Shatter Me, and I was a little worried that it wouldn’t live up to my very high expectations (which unfortunately has happened to me recently), so I’m thrilled to say that I LOVED it. The writing is stunning, the heroine is incredible, the love interest is perfect, the villain is evil, and the romance is HOT. The whole book is just so brilliant. I was swooning the entire time I was reading it. And the best thing? It’s out in less than two weeks! Yay!

If you’d like to hear more detailed gushing, you can read my review here. :)

Honorable Mention:

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
By Jennifer E Smith

This book is so adorable and squee-worthy and just absolute wish-fulfillment. It left me with a huge smile on my face and a strong desire to go to an airport so I could meet someone as perfect as Oliver. My review will be up soon. :)

I actually have both of these pre-ordered (thank goodness, I don't think I could wait any longer) and hopefully they arrive close to their respective release dates.

    Great picks, Andie!
